Our local Jiffy Lube and Staples teamed up once again and donated packs stuffed with school supplies. Queneesh Elementary is our central pickup location for other schools to collect packs for students in need.
We are also grateful to Northgate Church for their generous donation of more than 70 packs for students in the Valley and the Kiwanis Club for their school supply donation. New and returning families were welcomed with a festive summer feast and an opportunity to meet with staff and other students throughout our District enrolled in the Indigenous Education program. Highland Secondary is looking for 3 to 4 more students from any Comox Valley School Grade to join them on this incredible cultural exchange.

Queneesh Elementary students returned to find a colourful interactive path in their school lobby. Sensory Paths encourage movement to decrease behaviours while increasing cognition and are becoming more popular in schools across Canada See the path in action here. Outdoor learning opportunities are expanding and one of our professional development sessions for educators this August was a day with Courtenay Fish and Game to explore all the programming options available to students.

Sally Podmore, a Cumberland Community School parent and CCS Board member, spent her summer beautifying the entrance of the Strathcona Elementary building to create a cheerful experience for students and staff.
